On the famous Alpe d'Huez, for once it was reasonably kind to me, I didn't arrive there bright and sparkling, but good enough not to concede any time to the main GC guys.
Tomorrow, very simple: ride fast from point (a) to point (b).
DONE!
“A lot of people like to criticize but they should try and do it.”
“Ainda não consigo acreditar. Há muitos anos que estava focado em vencer o Tour. No ano passado ganhei a camisola amarela, mas depois parti o cotovelo. Este ano a equipa teve mais forte e eu estive calmo nos momentos mais difíceis”, confessou Evans no final da tirada.
O líder da BMC fez questão de agradecer a quem o apoiou ao longo da carreira: “Faz vinte anos desde que vi o Tour pela primeira vez na televisão. A partir daí comecei a trabalhar com o meu treinador com este objetivo. O que eu faço é pelo ciclismo, mas também por aqueles que acreditaram em mim: Aldo Sassi (treinador de Evans falecido recentemente), os meus companheiros e os que me ajudaram desde os meus 14 anos”.

He was born with a broken nose, three weeks past his due date but at 34 years of age, he is going to become the first Australian to win the Tour de France. At the age of eight he was kicked in the head by a horse, fracturing his skull and putting him in a coma for weeks. Doctors didn’t expect him to walk again after that accident but he has done a lot more than that. In Grenoble he was a dominant force.
